One of my all-time favourite authors C. S. Lewis once said: “We are what we believe we are.” The Irish-born writer wasn’t certain what the future held, but he embraced the ever-changing pace of what was to come. I’ve been inspired by writers like these who have a deep sense of destiny throughout their work.

Through creative writing I’ve found I can express myself freely by turning adversities into immaculate colours of promise. My hope is that I can paint a picture in your mind of purpose as we continue to ride this crazy adventure called life.

I was bundled up like a kid about to tube down a snowy hillside. We were waiting in line as I bounced up and down on my toes with excitement. I wasnʼt sure exactly what to expect, but snow or hail—I didnʼt care. I was determined to climb this mighty fortress known as The Great Wall.

Schools of shimmering blue fish darted and turned, like lightning strikes below me. Zebra-striped fish floated royally by with their long yellow fins trailing behind them…what world had I entered?

My eyes view a hazy fog as it hugs the mountaintop like a guardian angel. Table Mountain, the massively mean fortress that appeared cruel to me at first, later became a friend after hiking its rocky staircase to the rewarding view on top.

Today we would be invading Hawaii. At last, after a week at sea, the MV Explorer rattled and rocked like a buzz saw and came to a complete and jittery stop at the Port of Hilo. I was bursting with anticipation like hot lava volcano that was about to boil over.

When I first caught glimpse of Mt. Fuji, the snow capped mountain glistened powerfully as it stood among the hilltops of Yokohama. My friends drove on the left side of the road, plundering through the ice and snow as we inched closer to the fortress.

A Way With Words: Tying Art with Nature
“Don’t fear. Take the leap, and have faith. We tend to have moments of hesitation in this industry. So when we begin to create and go out to accomplish a vision, we hold back for so many reason. I’m learning not to hold back, not to fear, but to make the wave!”

Oscar Wilde once said: “I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train.” And for Daniela Garcia Allie, going out with her journal is a must.
